Waste Management Supervisor
Location: Bardon WTS, Interlink Way South, Coalville, LE67 1PG
Salary: £28,605 to £31,029 per annum (Based on a roster for part-time, reflecting a 37-hour standard week. Pay award pending)
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Closing Date: 19th July 2026 (subject to early closure if sufficient applications are received)
About the Role
Leicestershire County Council’s Contracts and Haulage Team is seeking a Waste Management Supervisor to manage the Waste Transfer Station and Internal/External Haulage operations, providing visible leadership to the team of Operatives and HGV drivers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and guide Waste Management Officers and Senior Haulage Officer in delivering high-quality services.
- Operate and manage plant and equipment, including:
- HGVs
- Loading shovels
- Telehandlers (and any other on-site machinery).
- Oversee operational performance, financial management, the training and development of staff.
- Ensure statutory duties are met and desired outcomes are achieved.
- Demonstrates proactive, flexible problem-solving skills with strong time management.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- A GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
- Willingness to gain the following qualifications (or equivalent):
- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (or working towards)
- HGV Licence
- Driver CPC
- Loading Shovel/Plant Ticket
- Train-the-Trainer Qualification (preferably)
- WAMITAB CoTC Level 3 (or working towards)
- Full, valid driving licence.
Critical Industry Experience Needed: ✅ Supervision of employees in:
- Waste management industry
- Transport/haulage operations
- (or related workplace)
✅ Managing HGV drivers in compliance with:
- Driver and vehicle legislation
✅ Prior experience working in:
- Waste carriage
- Specialist haulage
- Waste transfer stations (or equivalent)
