LOCATION: Spirit, Belfast
SHIFT PATTERN: Monday to Friday, 36 HOURS PER WEEK
PAY RATE: £12.83 per hour
Purpose
Play an integral part in delivering effective recycling and waste services; ensuring receptacles are emptied; recyclables are separated to secure best rebate value; and waste services complement rather than disrupt other business activities. Adherence to safe systems of work and maintenance of excellent housekeeping standards.
Key Responsibilities
Service Provision
- Review & adhere to safe systems of work, policies & procedures
- Adhere to a ‘clean as you go’ approach
- Wear PPE as directed and maintain in good condition
- Decant/empty waste receptacles as required
- Ensure waste streams are segregated properly
- Moving waste receptacles to ensure provision in areas of need
- Coordinate provision of bins, skips and collections by waste contractors
- Ensure adherence to work schedules
- Ensure waste management does not disrupt client operations
- Operate balers & compactors and other equipment (e.g. for cardboard or plastic)
- Promptly report defects of equipment
- Complete check sheets as required
- Maintain excellent housekeeping of all waste areas (including signage & labelling)
- Support communication & awareness activities as required
- Liaise with Site Waste Manager to deliver customer satisfaction

Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria
- A full, clean driving licence.
Desired Qualifications
- Licensed forklift operative (counter balance).
Desired Experience
- Experience as a waste recycling operative.
- Has worked at manufacturing facility.
Desired Skills
- Experience within the relevant industry, or a similar environment.
- Time spent in a customer service environment.
- Experience working within a results-orientated environment.
Attitude / Motivation
- Confident.
- Flexible, reliable, responsible, calm under pressure.
- Willing to undergo training/coaching in line with organisational philosophy.
- Positive attitude towards and supporting of change.
- Motivated by a desire to provide a professional service.
