LOCATION: Spirit, Belfast

SHIFT PATTERN: Monday to Friday, 36 HOURS PER WEEK

PAY RATE: £12.83 per hour

Purpose

Play an integral part in delivering effective recycling and waste services; ensuring receptacles are emptied; recyclables are separated to secure best rebate value; and waste services complement rather than disrupt other business activities. Adherence to safe systems of work and maintenance of excellent housekeeping standards.

Key Responsibilities

Service Provision

  • Review & adhere to safe systems of work, policies & procedures
  • Adhere to a ‘clean as you go’ approach
  • Wear PPE as directed and maintain in good condition
  • Decant/empty waste receptacles as required
  • Ensure waste streams are segregated properly
  • Moving waste receptacles to ensure provision in areas of need
  • Coordinate provision of bins, skips and collections by waste contractors
  • Ensure adherence to work schedules
  • Ensure waste management does not disrupt client operations
  • Operate balers & compactors and other equipment (e.g. for cardboard or plastic)
  • Promptly report defects of equipment
  • Complete check sheets as required
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping of all waste areas (including signage & labelling)
  • Support communication & awareness activities as required
  • Liaise with Site Waste Manager to deliver customer satisfaction

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • A full, clean driving licence.

Desired Qualifications

  • Licensed forklift operative (counter balance).

Desired Experience

  • Experience as a waste recycling operative.
  • Has worked at manufacturing facility.

Desired Skills

  • Experience within the relevant industry, or a similar environment.
  • Time spent in a customer service environment.
  • Experience working within a results-orientated environment.

Attitude / Motivation

  • Confident.
  • Flexible, reliable, responsible, calm under pressure.
  • Willing to undergo training/coaching in line with organisational philosophy.
  • Positive attitude towards and supporting of change.
  • Motivated by a desire to provide a professional service.
