Wastewater Design Civil Engineer – Leading Water & Wastewater Infrastructure Provider
About the Role
FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the Water and Wastewater Infrastructure sectors for an experienced Wastewater Design Civil Engineer.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join a growing Engineering team delivering essential infrastructure services.
The successful candidate will be part of the design team responsible for the investigation and detailed design of wastewater and clean water network projects, ensuring compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include:
- Deliver civil engineering designs for wastewater projects in alignment with client specifications and industry standards
- Prepare feasibility studies, technical reports, design calculations, drawings and project documentation
- Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections to inform and validate design solutions
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure accurate design inputs are gathered
- Operate with minimal supervision, while also reviewing and checking the work of others
- Support and mentor junior members of the engineering team
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrity and efficiency of design solutions
- Engage effectively with clients, stakeholders, and third parties throughout project delivery
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, Health & Safety, and environmental standards
- Identify and implement innovation and best practice across wastewater network projects
- Contribute to project delivery success within agreed timescales and budgets

Requirements
Skills & Experience
Candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Degreequalified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Working towards Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or equivalent experience
- Hands-on experience in wastewater or water infrastructure design
- Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles within the utilities sector
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Competent with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders
