Purpose And Scope Of The Role
Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy is seeking experienced Wastewater Hydraulic Modellers to join our Water Consultancy team delivering AMP8 and AMP9 programmes across the UK. You will construct, maintain and quality-assure wastewater models, deliver feasibility assessments and develop outline and detailed design solutions for urban drainage, DWMPs, WINEP and catchment investment projects. Day-to-day you will work within multidisciplinary teams, manage small projects, engage directly with clients and handle large datasets that inform multi-million-pound delivery programmes.
Your Impact In This Position
- You will immediately improve the robustness of modelling outputs used to prioritise investment and reduce pollution risk.
- Over the medium term you will lead technically complex modelling workstreams, influence design and intervention choices, and build trusted client relationships.
- Longer term there are clear routes to senior modelling, technical lead or programme roles where you will help set modelling standards and contribute to strategic planning across national frameworks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
