About the Role
We are looking for Wastewater Network Modellers (Assistant to Principal) to join our established team, delivering projects for several of the UK’s largest regulated water companies. Our water team also collaborates with a range of WSP business units, offering exciting project involvement while delivering for our core client base.
These roles enable you to further develop and apply technical skills, ensuring high-quality service and operational efficiency. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical input on urban drainage projects
- Supporting project delivery for current and future clients
- Helping shape efficient approaches to project execution
- Working with industry-standard software like InfoWorks ICM/CS, TUFLOW, CAWE (causeway flow), and other hydraulic modelling tools, depending on client needs
- Contributing to asset performance assessments by interrogating, enhancing, and building network models
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Provide expert input on urban drainage projects and support the wastewater team in current and future engagements
- Assist in feasibility studies and optioneering efforts
- Use network models to evaluate and optimise asset performance
- Prepare technical reports and supporting drawings
- Define field investigation requirements
- Develop client relationships at all levels, coordinating meetings and facilitating collaboration
- Contribute to knowledge sharing within the wider team
- Represent WSP in industry forums and conferences to promote our brand

You’ll work as part of a UK-based award-winning water team of over 600 professionals, supported globally. Current clients include Severn Trent Water, Northern Ireland Water, Welsh Water, Southern Water, Wessex Water, United Utilities, Uisce Éireann, and Scottish Water Horizons.
Progression is possible by combining technical expertise with leadership behaviours that develop others.
Requirements
We are looking for you to demonstrate:
- A degree in a relevant discipline (engineering, environmental science, geography)
- Chartered membership (e.g., ICE, CIWEM) or active pursuit of chartered status
- Strong knowledge and experience in urban drainage modelling, with the ability to review technical outputs before delivery
- Extensive experience in hydraulic modelling, using InfoWorks ICM or similar software
- Familiarity with industry-standard geographical information systems (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo)
