About the Role
We are looking for Wastewater Network Modellers (Assistant to Principal) to join our established water team, delivering a variety of projects for some of the UK’s largest regulated water companies. The team collaborates with other WSP business units, offering exciting opportunities beyond core client work.
These roles will help you develop and apply technical skills, ensuring high technical quality and service efficiency.
You will support hydraulic modelling studies for regulated water industry clients using industry-standard software, including:
- InfoWorks ICM/CS
- TUFLOW
- Causeway Flow
- Ours in-house FRM and other hydraulic software based on client needs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical input on urban drainage projects, assisting the wastewater team with current and future projects and influencing future efficient delivery approaches
- Support Feasibility studies and optioneering development
- Use network models to evaluate and optimise asset performance
- Prepare technical reports and supporting drawings
- Define field investigation requirements
- Maintain excellent client relationships, coordinating internal and client project meetings
- Contribute to team learning, including knowledge-sharing exercises
- Promote WSP’s brand through industry forums and conferences

You will work within a high-performing water team of over 600 professionals across the UK, supported by our Global Water Team. Current clients include: Severn Trent Water, Northern Ireland Water, Welsh Water, Southern Water, Wessex Water, United Utilities, Uisce Éireann, Scottish Water Horizons.
The role offers real prospects for progression, combining technical expertise with the ability to mentor colleagues.
What We Look for
Essential Requirements
- A degree in engineering, environmental science, geography, or a related discipline
- Chartered membership of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM) or progression towards chartership
- Strong knowledge and experience in urban drainage modelling, including the ability to review technical outputs
- Extensive hydraulic modelling experience, specifically with InfoWorks ICM or comparable software
- Familiarity with geographical information systems (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo)
