Job Description: Wastewater Network Modellers (Assistant to Principal) at WSP

Wastewater Network Modellers (Assistant to Principal) are sought to join our team, collaborating with the UK’s largest regulated water companies. Our water team partners with diverse WSP units, offering exciting, multi-disciplinary project opportunities alongside core client engagements.
These roles allow you to develop and apply technical skills, enhancing both technical excellence and service efficiency.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Support hydraulic modelling studies using InfoWorks ICM/CS for water industry clients, while providing flexibility for additional tools like TUFLOW, causeway flow, and in-house FRM depending on client needs.
- Interrogate, enhance, and build new models, assessing and understanding asset performance.
- Provide technical input for urban drainage projects, supporting current and future initiatives while shaping future delivery strategies.
- Assist in feasibility studies and optioneering using network models to evaluate and optimise asset performance.
- Prepare reports and supporting drawings.
- Define work requirements for field investigation teams.
- Foster client relationships at all levels, coordiating project meetings (internal and external).
- Contribute to the team’s knowledge sharing and represent WSP’s brand at industry forums and conferences.

Requirements
To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:
- A degree in engineering, environmental science, geography, or a related discipline.
- Chartered membership (or working towards) in a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE/CIWEM).
- Deep expertise in urban drainage modelling, with the ability to validate technical outputs of peers.
- Extensive experience using hydraulic modelling software, with proficiency in InfoWorks ICM or comparable tools.
- Familiarity with industry-standard GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo).
