Maintenance Technician (Electrically Biased) – Permanent Role

About the Role
This is a Maintenance Technician role with an electrical bias, operating within the main MEI (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation) team.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment, working either independently or as part of a team.
- Providing electrical fault-finding and rectification for electrical and ancillary systems.
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, including appliances and lighting installations.
- Working from electrical drawings to determine faults and carry out necessary fixes.
- Maintaining mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems to ensure optimal asset performance.
- Conducting risk assessments and adhering to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) policies.
- Identifying and diagnosing issues in plant and equipment, proposing efficient solutions to restore functionality.
- Managing spares and material inventory to meet operational needs.
- Completing job cards and timesheets to track workload and performance.
- Supporting Welsh Water Capital Teams and operational teams through technical expertise.
- Performing other duties as required by the business to meet operational needs.
Requirements
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Experience working with pumps and variable speed drives.
- Knowledge of industrial processes, fixed-speed, and variable-speed motor controls.
- Ability to read schematic diagrams and troubleshoot faults in electrical circuits.
- Compliance with current regulations, including:
- BS7671: 2018 – the UK’s National Grid electrical safety standard
- 18th Edition IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) regulations
- An understanding of safe working practices and planning/scheduling of workloads.
