Job Purpose
As a Water Network Technician, you will support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Clean Water Network and assets to ensure United Utilities (UU) Wholesale delivers its operational objectives.
What You Will Be Doing
- Inspect and maintain a wide range of water network assets (e.g., reservoirs, pumping stations, trunk mains, valves, and pressure systems) to ensure operational performance.
- Identify asset optimization opportunities and carry out network improvements, investigations, rezoning, and pressure management activities.
- Manage asset condition, verification, and maintenance tasks, including valve checks, reservoir operations (refill/drop tests), flushing, and pump/generator operation.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, including PPE, confined space work, risk assessments, audits, and contractor sign-off.
- Support network reliability by handling incidents, investigating pressures/flows, detecting illegal connections, restoring supply, and installing monitoring equipment (e.g., loggers).

What We Are Looking For
- GCSE grade C or above, City and Guilds, or ability to demonstrate technical and customer skills
- Demonstrable water network technical experience, including leakage detection and repair
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills
- Strong customer service focus and be able to resolve customer issues
- Ability to work alone as well as effectively as part of a team
- A good level of competency in the use of relevant IT packages
- Previous experience of working in an operational environment
- Previous experience of working within water networks
