Join the Yorkshire Water Water Service Delivery team and help deliver clean, safe drinking water and wastewater services across the Yorkshire region.

This exciting opportunity sits within the Water Service Delivery teams, where our focus is on maintaining compliance with water quality regulations and exceeding customer expectations through responsible service.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Water Quality Sampling Officer to support our strategic mandatory sampling programme, ensuring 100% regulatory compliance while providing exceptional field support.
Key Responsibilities
As a Water Quality Sampling Officer, your role will include:

Compliance with Water Quality Standards:
- Conduct regulated water quality sampling in line with regulatory and procedural guidelines.
- Ensure ISO17025 accreditation requirements are met.
- Maintain compliance with Yorkshire Water’s QMS (Quality Management System).

Field Sampling & Customer Engagement:
- Collect water samples from water treatment works, reservoir infrastructure, and distribution assets.
- Carry out random customer sampling as per the regulatory programme.
- Assist on-site with customer issue resolution, documenting issues that require escalation.
- Maintain adherence to lone working policies and robust health & safety procedures.

Technical & Analytical Support:
- Operate and interrogate key corporate systems (Advantex, RTS, Odyssey, Lab Systems) for sample tracking, reporting, and analysis.
- Work collaboratively with Water Quality Scientists, Production Engineers, and Field Technicians to investigate site-specific concerns.

Location & Hours
Location: Based in South Leeds, covering Leeds, Wakefield, and Normanton.
Hours: Permanent role, 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with a commitment to an on-call / standby rota after full training.
What Skills & Qualifications Do You Bring?
Essential
- Strong focus on effective internal relationships, teamwork, and customer service.
- Proficiency in Office and email systems, with a willingness to learn corporate water quality software (e.g., Advantex).
- Hands-on experience in excellent customer service, including issue escalation and documentation.
- Deep understanding of potable water quality procedures.
- Experience working in a procedural, regulated environment (preferably in water/wastewater or utilities).
- Full, valid driving licence with an awareness of occupational driving challenges.
- Self-motivation and the ability to manage workload independently.
- Ability to work at height and in confined spaces.
- Strong sense of smell and taste for field sampling.
- Basic knowledge of water treatment operations and distribution systems.

Desirable
- Prior experience in water quality sampling, quality assurance roles, or process/resource industries.
- Experience working in regulated environments similar to affluor® water or utilities sectors.
- Familiarity with water quality regulations and ISO17025 standards.
