The Water Resources Planning Consultant Opportunity
The Opportunity
Water is at the centre of everything. It sustains life, shapes ecosystems and underpins communities across the UK and beyond.
AMP8 (2025–2030) marks the largest investment in UK water infrastructure since privatisation. The water industry will respond to pressures from climate change, population growth and increasing environmental standards, all while strengthening long-term resilience. This presents a unique opportunity to develop new water resources and deliver lasting benefits for communities and the environment.
At Stantec, our Water Resources team supports clients leading water management. We work on:
- Strategic Resource Options (SROs)

We’re now seeking Expressions of Interest from Water Resources professionals who thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments. Here, you’ll apply technical, environmental, and engineering expertise to help clients make informed, future-focused decisions.

We’re inviting Expressions of Interest from Water Resources Planning Consultants at every career stage—from early-career professionals to established Technical Directors.
Core Responsibilities:
- Support nationwide client projects in the UK.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
