Water Resource Consultants | Expression of Interest

Water Resources Planning Consultant (Expressions of Interest) – UK Water

The Opportunity: Shaping the Future of UK Water Resources

Water is at the centre of everything. From sustaining life and shaping ecosystems to underpinning communities across the UK, a resilient and sustainable water supply is critical for future generations. AMP8 (2025–2030)—the largest water infrastructure investment since privatisation—presents a pivotal moment to address climate change pressures, population growth, and stricter environmental standards.

At Stantec, our Water Resources team supports water industry leaders by contributing to:

  • Strategic Resource Options (SROs)
  • Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs)
  • Drought Plans
  • Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP)

We collaborate with water companies, regulators, and stakeholders to deliver future-focused, sustainable water solutions across the UK.

We’re looking for Expression of Interest submissions from Water Resources professionals—whether early-career specialists or established Technical Directors—who embrace multidisciplinary collaboration, merging engineering, environmental, and technical expertise to guide data-driven decision-making.

About The Role

Stantec is inviting Expressions of Interest from Water Resources Planning Consultants across all career stages, from entry-level professionals to leaders gauging broader programme delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support clients across the UK in planning and delivering long-term, sustainable water solutions.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with specialists in our Water Environment & Engineering teams.
  • Contribute to key initiatives, including:
    • Water resources option appraisal
    • Environmental assessments
    • Water resources modelling
    • Deployable output assessments
    • Feasibility studies
    • Regulatory submissions
  • Develop strategies for new water supply options, drought resilience, and environmental sustainability.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
