Water Resource Consultants | Expression of Interest

The Opportunity

Water is at the centre of everything. It sustains life, shapes ecosystems and underpins communities across the UK and beyond.

AMP8 (2025–2030) marks the largest investment in UK water infrastructure since privatisation. The water industry will respond to pressures from climate change, population growth, and increasing environmental standards, while strengthen resilience for future generations. This presents a unique opportunity to develop new resources and deliver lasting benefits for communities and the environment.

At Stantec, our Water Resources team supports clients leading these challenges. We collaborate on Strategic Resource Options (SROs), Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs), Drought Plans, and the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP)—working alongside water companies, regulators, and stakeholders to shape future water management across the UK.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from Water Resources professionals who thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments, blending technical, environmental, and engineering expertise. This role will help clients make informed, future-focused decisions for sustainable water management.

About The Role

We are inviting Expressions of Interest from Water Resources Planning Consultants at all career stages, from early-career associates through to established Technical Directors leading major project areas. Your work will include:

  • Supporting UK-wide client projects, operating both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborating with our Water Environment & Engineering teams to deliver sustainable, long-term solutions.
  • Contributing to or leading activities like:
    • Water resources option appraisals
    • Environmental assessments
    • Water resources modelling
    • Output assessments
    • Feasibility studies
    • Regulatory submissions (e.g., for planning or compliance)

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
