Water Resources Planning Consultant – Expressions of Interest
📍 UK-wide roles
The Opportunity
Water is at the centre of everything. It sustains life, shapes ecosystems, and underpins communities across the UK and beyond.
AMP8 (2025–2030) marks the largest investment in UK water infrastructure since privatisation. The water industry faces pressures from climate change, population growth, and increasing environmental standards, requiring resilience to ensure sustainable water supplies for future generations. This presents a unique chance to develop innovative water solutions and deliver lasting benefits for communities and the environment.
At Stantec, our Water Resources team supports clients tackling these challenges—from Strategic Resource Options (SROs), Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs), Drought Plans, to the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP). We collaborate with water companies, regulators, and stakeholders to shape the future of water management.
We’re seeking Expressions of Interest from professionals in water resources who thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments, blending technical expertise, environmental considerations, and engineering solutions to guide clients toward forward-thinking, data-driven decisions.
About the Role
We invite applications from Water Resources Planning Consultants at all career stages, from early professionals to established Technical Directors taking leadership of workstreams on major projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
