Waterjet Operator – Darton, Operations Team
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual for a dynamic Waterjet Operator role in our manufacturing team. If you have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with CNC or industrial machinery, and the ability to read technical drawings, then we’d love to hear from you!
This 12-month contract position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist skills in precision metal fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Operate waterjet cutting equipment to produce precision metal components to exact specifications.
- Handle various metal materials, ensuring all parts meet quality and dimensional standards.
- Set up and maintain machines according to ** StokeOnTrent et al** guidelines, ensuring total compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
- Record faults, maintenance issues and production data accurately in our digital system.
- Continuously improve processes to boost efficiency and reduce waste.
- Work collaboratively with the team to eliminate bottles-necks and improve process flow.
- Inspire and motivate your production peers through professional conduct and sharing best practice knowledge.
- Label & track all components to guarantee no mix-up and efficient stock management.
- Strict light touch guideline and telephone handover manners to ensure continuity of operations.

Shift Pattern
This role operates on a rotating shift system:
- Week 1: 5:45 AM – 2:00 PM, Mon-Thu | 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Fri
- Week 2: 2:00 PM – 12:00 PM, Mon-Thu
Important note: There are no accessible bus routes to the site. You must be able to drive to get to work.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Skills
✔ Experience working with waterjets, lasers, or other precision machinery (preferred, but not essential) ✔ Strong mechanical aptitude ✔ Excellent problem-solving skills ✔ Proficiency in basic maths and understanding of measurements (vernier calipers, micrometers, dimensions) ✔ Computer literacy (Windows OS, email, databases) ✔ Compliance with Health & Safety regulations
Desirable Experience
🔹 Fabrication, machining, or manufacturing experience 🔹 Experience with CAM/CAD software 🔹 Introductory knowledge of tools such as DeltaCAD or similar programs
