Wealth Management Professionals - AI Residency (Part-time) | Frontier AI Research
About Us Mentis AI works at the intersection of institutional investment expertise and frontier AI systems. Our team combines deep asset management experience (Lazard, Partners Group) with machine learning and applied AI research. Operating across London and San Francisco, we collaborate with leading AI labs to improve how models reason, generalize, and make decisions in high-stakes financial contexts. The Opportunity This residency is designed for senior research analysts and portfolio managers who want exposure and a meaningful experience towards the direction of AI in your domain and earn early, practical exposure at using advanced AI system. You will: Prompt: Develop and iterate realistic prompts that you would ask a junior role to test the relevance and quality of AI-generated insights. Compare human vs. machine judgment: Systematically evaluate divergence between professional advisory judgment and AI outputs across asset allocation, alternatives, financial planning, and private client contexts. Design frameworks: Translate how practitioners build tailored portfolios, select managers, navigate tax and estate considerations, and communicate investment rationale to sophisticated clients into problems that push the limits of AI reasoning. Construct expert benchmarks: Build and validate real-world portfolio analyses, financial planning frameworks, and client advisory materials used to evaluate frontier AI systems. Why This Experience Is Valuable Hands-on exposure to how AI is reshaping advisory workflows, from asset allocation and manager selection through tax-aware investing, estate planning, and client reporting. You will be among the first wealth management professionals to work directly on how frontier AI models reason about portfolio construction, financial planning, and private client advisory. Who You Are 5+ years of experience as a Financial Advisor, Portfolio Manager, or CIO at an RIA, private bank, or family office (e.g. Mercer Advisors, Creative Planning, NewEdge Capital Group, Moneta, Cresset, JPMorgan Private Bank, Goldman Sachs PWM, Citi Private Bank) Experience managing complex client relationships with meaningful AUM ($5M+ households preferred) Deep familiarity with asset allocation, manager selection, alternatives, tax-aware investing, and estate/trust planning considerations Ability to articulate investment rationale and financial planning strategy clearly and concisely in writing CFP, CFA, CIMA, or equivalent designation a plus Genuine intellectual curiosity about the application of AI in wealth management and private client advisory Residency Structure Commitment: 15+ hours/week, flexible scheduling Location: Remote globally, or in person if based in London Compensation: Hourly rate depending on experience Start date: Immediate / Rolling
