Role: Assistant Vice President – Wealth Manager

Purpose of the Role

Deliver exceptional sales and business performance by acquiring, developing, and maintaining highly proactive, long-term client relationships. Protect Barclays' reputation through sound risk decisions by managing client groups within their risk profile and applying appropriate regulatory frameworks.


Key Accountabilities

Client Relationship Management

  • Manage and grow client relationships, acquiring new clients and identifying tailored solutions to meet a wide range of client needs.
  • Establish a deep understanding of each client’s strategy and objectives through proactive engagement—addressing queries, nominating opportunities, and delivering long-term commercial value.
  • Monitor operational, reputational, financial crime, and credit risk to avoid exposing Barclays to undue risks.

Regulatory and Policy Compliance

  • Ensure all activities adhere to regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework, and Barclays’ internal policies.
  • Collaborate with group colleagues for referrals where necessary.

As an Assistant Vice President, you will:

  • Advise and influence decision-making, contributing to policy development and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other business functions to drive alignment.

  • Drive collaborative assignments, assigning tasks and guiding team execution.
  • Identify new directions and cross-functional methodologies to meet objectives.

Risk & Control Ownership

  • Mitigate risk, develop new policies, and strengthen controls to align with Barclays’ governance agenda.
  • Analyse multi-source data (internal/external) to solve problems creatively.
  • Communicate complex financial information effectively.
  • Influence stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes.

Organisational Alignment

  • Engage in complex data analysis across internal and external sources to drive problem-solving.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support business strategy and ensure cohesion.

Professional Requirements

Essential Experience (Wealth Management)

  • Closer clothing: Maintain and deepend relationships with a High Net Worth (HNW) client base, delivering exceptional service.
  • Regulatory credentials: Hold a RDR Level 4 qualification, complemented by a financial planning qualification (e.g., Diploma in Financial Planning).
  • Client-centric expertise: Strong relationship management skills, particularly experience working collaboratively with HNW individuals and families to address multi-layered financial and lifestyle needs.
  • Strategic mindset: Ability to understand, assess, and tailor financial solutions across UK wealth management.

Highly Valued Skills

  • Experience providing regulated advice to HNW clients in the UK.
  • Ability to build client networks (internal/external).
  • In-depth client insights: Deep expertise in Investment Planning, Taxation, Succession Planning, and Estate Management.
  • Commercial acumen: Skill in negotiating optimal commercial outcomes while maximising client value.

Role Location & Certification

This position is part of Barclays’ expanding Wealth Management team, supporting clients with investable assets up to £3m. The role focuses on closing the UK Advice Gap by delivering a transparent and accessible investment proposition.

  • Primary locations: Glasgow, Canberra, Bristol, Bournemouth, Leeds, Cardiff, Ipswich, Cambridge, Norwich, or Newcastle in Scotland.
  • This role is PRA & FCA-certified, with potential regulatory qualification criteria applicable.
