Salary range: £70,000 to £80,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Bristol, or flexible to accept any UK FNC office for the right candidate
Working Pattern: Flexible hybrid – operation across office, client sites, and remote work

About the Role
As a Principal Consultant, you’ll play a crucial leadership role in:
- Encouraging the growth of the defence and WOME sector within de Fraz-Nash portfolio.
- Collaborating with Group Leaders and Business Development to deliver transformational projects.
- Building lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders to enable project success.
- Representing Frazer-Nash as a trusted defence consultancy through technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Business Development
- Design services and market presence aligned with company strategy.
- Work with Sales and Business Development teams to grow revenue in WOME-focused areas.

Technical Leadership
- Elevated company technical credibility at executive level through WOME expertise, capabilities, and new business generation.
- Commission and produce high-standard technical artefacts, including compliance documentation for WOME safety assurance.
People and Culture
- Mentor junior team members, fostering professional development in Weapons & Safety/Assurance disciplines.
Requirements
Experience
- 5+ years in weapons ordnance, or regulated defence (saing in the UK includes experience).
- Proven ability in client facing, prospective capability positioning and bids.
Leadership
- Exemplary stakeholder engagement skills (cross-functional, client-facing, and at executive level).
Technical Knowledge
- Comprehensive WOME Standards/Policies/Regulations knowledge (expand and conform to UK MoD guidelines).
- Applied domain expertise that includes:
- OME certification & qualification processes.
- S3/Specification 3 (software/attack safety).
- Platform integration, procure and test/evaluation project management.
Skills & Safety Assurance Tools
- Method Application in safety engineering (HAZID, hazard management, FHA, software safety assessments).
- HAZARM ALARP assessments and risk-ranking frameworks.
- Familiarity with Weapons Technical Assurance/Governance standards (beyond compliance).

Qualification & Professionalism
- Member of a relevant UK-recognised engineering Institute (highly preferred for leadership roles).
- Capacity to engage in technical workshops and interact with technical leads.
