Website Developer | WordPress, PHP, Front-End – Acquired Property Advice Platform (3M+ Annual Visits)
Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 Location: Remote (with occasional in-person team meetings) Requirement: Must hold UK Right to Work
About the Role
This hands-on build role (≈60% front-end, 40% back-end & infrastructure) involves working on **a high-traffic WordPress platform (3M+ organic visitors/year) focused on UK property/home advice. You’ll work autonomously as part of a small (5-person), agile team, reporting to the Head of Technology while owning implementation and daily operations—support limited to heavyweight hosting/security.
Key Responsibilities
- Development – Full-stack contributions, including:
- WordPress administration, themes, templates, and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
- PHP, JavaScript/jQuery, HTML/CSS (front-end/back-end)
- Mobile-first/responsive design and deployment
- Content & SEO – Directly driving improvements in search visibility, page speed, and conversion rates
- Content Management –UX optimisations and CMS expansion
- Security & Performance – Retaining high speeds across a global audience

Requirements
Essential
- Experience in website-building and marketing (prioritising both, not one or the other)
- WordPress administration including plugins, taxes, and workflows
- PHP, JavaScript/jQuery, and a solid grasp of front-end CSS/HTML5
- Content management and sector-specific familiarity (property/finance preferred)
- Self-taught discipline – Proven track record of independent work and workload planning
Nice to Have
- Sector Knowledge: House/property sector familiarity or experience with:
- Comparative platforms (price portals, listings sites)
- Lead handling (e.g., CRM/lead-gen for high-intent users)
- Technical/SEO Advice:
- Technical SEO, structured data, or schema.org
- A/B testing and optimisation workflows
- Accessibility audits (WCAG adherence)
- Specialised Tools:
- Open Prophecy data feeds
- Chatbots/AI search components
- Wordfence or similar security tooling
