Web Development Intern
We are looking for a Web Development Intern to support our growing advisory team as we work on a significant project for a West Midlands infrastructure group. This is a full-time, paid position that is performed entirely from your home. You will be helping us build and refine the digital tools that make management clearer and more accessible for our clients. We want someone who is interested in how clean code can solve practical management problems.
About the Role
Olive Tree Consulting works in the space between strategy and daily execution. Our clients often find that their internal processes have become cluttered and hard to follow as they grow. This is especially true for our partners in the West Midlands infrastructure group, who handle complex logistical and operational data every day. This role exists to help us turn management logic into simple, functional digital interfaces. You will not be building flashy marketing sites: instead, you will focus on creating tools that help teams record decisions and track ownership. This is a remote role that requires a high degree of focus and the ability to work independently while staying connected to the consulting team.
What You Will Do
- Build and maintain small internal web applications that help clients track their meeting outcomes and decision logs.
- Translate the project requirements of the West Midlands infrastructure group into functional, responsive web components.
- Write clean, readable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that other team members can easily understand and update.
- Maintain and update our existing internal tools to ensure they stay reliable and easy for non-technical users to navigate.
- Collaborate with our consultants to understand the logic behind a client's management rhythm and turn it into a digital dashboard.
- Document the code and the workflows you create so that the logic is never lost or dependent on memory.
- Participate in team check-ins to discuss progress and troubleshoot technical hurdles.
- Test web tools across various devices and browsers to ensure a consistent experience for all users.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We Are Looking For
We need someone who values simplicity and function over visual complexity. You should have a solid understanding of web development basics, typically gained through your studies, personal projects, or a boot camp. We are looking for an intern who is curious about how users interact with data and who wants to see their code solve real friction in a workplace. Because we are a remote firm, you must be a reliable communicator who can provide clear updates on your work without being prompted. High attention to detail is necessary: we believe that a small bug in a management tool can lead to a large misunderstanding for a client.
Helpful Background
- A basic proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, or similar libraries.
- Familiarity with version control tools like Git.
- An interest in user interface design that prioritizes readability and ease of use.
- Experience building or managing a personal portfolio or project site.
- The ability to explain technical concepts to team members who do not have a coding background.
- Previous experience with static site generators or basic backend logic is helpful but not required.
What We Offer
This is a fully remote position that allows you to work from your own environment while being a part of a professional advisory practice. The internship is paid, and the compensation is competitive for the current market and the level of the role. You will get to see how a consulting firm operates and how digital tools are used to change the way organizations function. We provide a structured environment where your work has a clear purpose and where you can see the direct results of your development efforts on the projects we manage for the West Midlands infrastructure group.

About Olive Tree
Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems: they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company growth. We favor practical changes over large scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own. The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
