How you'll make a difference
As a Weekend Community Meals Catering Assistant, you will assist with and prepare nutritious meals to be delivered to some of the elderly and vulnerable members of the community who may not be able to cook for themselves.
What you will be doing
- Assisting the Cook, you will help prepare and cook hot and cold food and snacks for lunch and dinner time meals.
- Working with the catering team, you will ensure the food service is on time, serviced and packed for the drivers to collect and distribute in the community.
- It will be your responsibility to be involved with cleaning duties and complete cleaning schedules.
- You will have the opportunity to learn new skills to support development.
What we need from you
- Ideally, you will have experience of working in a food preparation environment.
- You will have the ability to work efficiently and at a sustained pace.
- Given the elements of this role, you must be able to follow instructions, for example accurately following a meal picking list for the delivery of rounds.
- It is essential that you are able to demonstrate high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the workplace.

What you need to know
- Community meals is a year-round service, including Christmas and Bank holidays.
- You will be based at the Council Offices, Badminton Road, Yate, Bristol, BS37 5AF.
- Weekend working: Saturday and Sunday, your hours will be 8am – 12pm with a flexible approach.
- We would consider every other weekend working as a rota pattern.
- Sunday pay enhancement is time & half.
- Your uniform will be provided.
- We will offer food hygiene and allergen training if required.
- Interviews will be held on the 12th August 2026
