Role Purpose

We are looking for a reliable and flexible Weekend Cleaner to provide sickness and holiday cover, ensuring that cleaning services are maintained to the highest standards at all times.

The successful candidate will carry out cleaning duties in accordance with contract specifications and work schedules while demonstrating a strong commitment to health and safety, quality, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out all cleaning tasks in accordance with the contract specification and supervisor's instructions within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and attend work as scheduled.
  • Work effectively as part of a team while also using initiative when working independently.
  • Continuously strive to improve the quality of cleaning standards.
  • Respond professionally to reasonable requests from management or the client.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment, materials, and chemicals are used safely, maintained correctly, and stored securely.
  • Report any maintenance issues, cleaning concerns, or hazards to the Site Supervisor.
  • Wear the appropriate uniform and PPE at all times and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Health & Safety.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Previous cleaning experience in a commercial or similar environment.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and flexible with working hours.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and use initiative.

Communication and Teamwork

The role requires regular communication with the Site Manager, colleagues, client representatives, contractors, and visitors. A professional, courteous, and helpful approach is expected at all times.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Take responsibility for the quality of their own work.
  • Support and guide less experienced colleagues where required.
  • Ensure company and client property, equipment, and materials are used responsibly.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding company and client information.
  • Recognise that high cleaning standards contribute to the welfare of animals within the site's unique environment.

Working Environment

This role is based within a unique client environment and may involve working:

  • Outdoors and indoors.
  • Around animals and animal enclosures.
  • In varying weather conditions.
  • Around machinery and equipment.
  • In dusty, noisy, or dirty environments.

Strict adherence to Health & Safety procedures, biosecurity requirements, locking procedures, and lone working protocols is essential at all times.

Flexibility

This is a flexible weekend position designed to provide cover during periods of annual leave, sickness, and other operational requirements. Duties and priorities may change to meet business needs, and the successful candidate should be willing to undertake additional reasonable tasks as requested by the Site Manager.
