How you'll make a difference

As a Weekend Community Meals Driver you will make a difference by delivering nutritious meals to members of the community who may not be able to cook for themselves.

What you will be doing

  • You will be part of a dedicated team providing a vital service to a range of customers throughout South Gloucestershire.
  • Working independently, you will have a regular round providing the opportunity to get to know your customers and build relationships.
  • As a driver you will be able to navigate your way around the South Gloucestershire area confidently to deliver community meals in a timely manner.

What we need from you

  • It is essential that you have a full driving license for this post, and ideally have knowledge of the South Gloucestershire area.
  • You must be comfortable working independently, have good communication skills and be confident in interacting with people.
  • We require you to be confident in making decisions knowing when to escalate any concerns.
  • You will enjoy working at pace, able to balance your schedule with the needs of your customer.

  • Community meals is a year-round service, including Christmas and bank holidays.
  • You will be based at the council offices, Badminton Road, Yate, Bristol, BS37 5AF.
  • Weekend work (we have shift patterns for one weekend in four, and also every other weekend available) shifts are 10.45am to 14.15pm.
  • Allowance: Sunday enhancement (time & half)
  • Salaries pro-rated to hours worked.
  • Your uniform will be provided.
  • We will offer food hygiene and allergen training if required.
  • Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
  • Interviews will be held on the 12th August 2026
