Housekeeping Assistant - Contract Position
Buchanan Lodge Care Home, located in Bearsden, North Glasgow, is a beautifully converted former convent providing Residential, Nursing, Respite, and Dementia care for 38 residents. Blending historic charm with modern comforts, we create a warm and supportive environment where dignity and wellbeing are prioritised.
Job Summary
Salary: Up to £12.71 per hour (contract only: 10 hours per week) Benefits:

About the Role
As a Housekeeping Assistant, you’ll deliver exceptional cleaning standards while playing a vital role in maintaining a hygiene-focused, caring environment. This practical, hands-on position involves:
- Cleaning and maintaining resident bedrooms, bathrooms, and communal areas – ensuring pristine presentation and infection control.
- Supporting and assisting with laundry services – including washing, drying, ironing, and correctly distributing labelled clothing with care.
- Collaborating with the team to uphold health & safety and housekeeping policies safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and hygiene across all areas of the care home.
- Assist with laundry duties with precision, ensuring items are properly handled, labelled, and returned to residents.
- Follow strict infection control protocols and report any concerns promptly.
- Work flexibly as part of a team or independently, depending on daily needs.
- Support the wider team in maintaining a welcoming, respectful, and orderly environment for residents.
Requirements
- A reliable, approachable nature with a strong work ethic.
- An eye for detail, organisation, and presentation.
- The ability to work autonomously and as part of a caring team.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with residents, staff, and visitors.
- Experience in cleaning or laundry services is beneficial but not essential.
- Commitment to high hygiene standards and understanding of infection control is preferred.
