We’re looking for an experienced Weekend Porter to support the smooth operation of a residential development based in London, providing an efficient, courteous and professional service to residents and visitors while helping to maintain a safe, secure and well-presented environment. Location: London E1W Salary: £18,716 Hours: Saturday & Sunday, 7am-7pm The Role As the Weekend Porter, you will be the first point of contact for residents and visitors to the building, ensuring they receive an efficient and courteous service at all times. You will support the safe and smooth running of the development by monitoring security cameras, maintaining building access procedures, managing parcels and keys, completing handovers and records, assisting residents and visitors, and supporting the upkeep of communal areas. What You’ll Do
- Resident & Visitor Services Provide an efficient, courteous and attentive service to residents, visitors and guests at all times. Act as the first point of contact for residents and visitors to the building. Arrange taxis for residents and their guests when requested. Notify residents of parcels, packages and recorded delivery letters, and arrange collection or delivery as required. Maintain a visible and professional presence on site.
- Security & Access Control Monitor the various security cameras around the building and react to and report any possible breaches of security. Take responsibility for the security of the main entrance doors and gates. Ensure gates are locked and opened in line with site requirements, including any specified overnight arrangements. Support the safe management of building access for residents, visitors and contractors. Follow site procedures and escalate any security concerns promptly.
- Handover & Site Records Complete a full handover at the start of each shift and familiarise yourself with events that may have occurred since you were last on duty. Receive and pass on all relevant matters from the previous porter, including details of those in occupation where relevant. Read through the log book, take notes where necessary, and check events past, present and future in the diary. Check any amendments to the porter rota and follow up on outstanding residents’ mail as necessary. Maintain accurate records relating to keys, deliveries, incidents and other site procedures.
- Keys, Deliveries & Common Areas Ensure every key is accounted for at all times and that no key is removed from the building. Issue keys only to authorised persons and record all required details, including date and time of issue, identity of key, issuer, recipient and return details. Report any key believed to be lost, compromised or damaged immediately to the Estate Manager or Managing Agents. Carry out cleaning of the entrance hall area, lifts and other common parts as and when required. Familiarise yourself with mechanical plant procedures and appropriate emergency procedures. What You’ll Bring Experience Experience in a porter, concierge, security, residential estate or customer-facing role. Experience dealing with residents, visitors, guests and contractors in a professional environment. Previous experience in a residential development, hospitality, front-of-house or security setting would be advantageous. Skills Excellent customer service skills and a courteous, attentive approach. Strong communication skills and the ability to complete clear handovers. Good attention to detail when recording keys, parcels, deliveries and incidents. Confidence monitoring CCTV and responding appropriately to potential security concerns. Ability to follow site procedures, emergency processes and rota requirements. Competence using basic site systems, logs and a smartphone where required. Behaviours Professionalism: Maintain a smart appearance, full uniform and high standards of conduct at all times.
