Weekend Porter (Morning & Afternoon) - Yehudi Menuhin School
Location: Stoke D’Abernon, Cobham, Surrey, UK
Salary: £13 per hour
Working Hours:
- Morning Porter: 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM
- Afternoon Porter: 1:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Purpose of the Role
The Yehudi Menuhin School is seeking two Weekend Porters – one for morning shifts (7:30 AM – 1:30 PM) and one for afternoon shifts (1:30 PM – 7:30 PM) – to support the kitchen and dining services at weekends. Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of cleanliness, assisting kitchen staff, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with breakfast setup
- Brushing and mopping floors
- Washing plates, pots, pans, trays, and cutlery to a high standard
- Preparing fruits and vegetables
- Helping the Chef with incoming deliveries
- Regularly changing bin bags
- Maintaining high hygiene standards in designated areas (pot wash and dishwash areas)
- Performing any additional duties requested by the team

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Good understanding of basic hygiene and cleanliness standards in a kitchen environment
- Awareness of safe working practices (handling hot equipment, chemicals, cleaning products)
- Willingness to undergo training (e.g., Food Hygiene Level 1 if not already certified)
Experience
- Experience in a kitchen, catering, hospitality, or cleaning role (paid or voluntary)
- Experience working in a fast-paced team environment
