Weighbridge Operative

Hourly Rate – £12.83
Hours – 42.50 hours per week
Location & Postcode – Redditch, B98 7SN

As a Weighbridge Operative at FCC Environment, you will operate the weighbridge in accordance with company procedures and safe systems of work. You will ensure all waste movements are accurately weighed, monitored and recorded, while maintaining compliance with environmental legislation, site permits and company waste acceptance procedures.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?

  • Operating the weighbridge system and ensuring all vehicle movements are accurately recorded.
  • Controlling access to the site in accordance with environmental permits, legislation and company waste acceptance procedures.
  • Ensuring all waste movements are supported by accurate transfer note documentation and handled by registered waste carriers.
  • Inducting site users into site rules and maintaining accurate records.
  • Handling compost enquiries and arranging deliveries with customers and third-party transport providers.
  • Maintaining site records, logging daily issues and producing monthly summaries.
  • Recording and reporting near misses to the Site Manager or Supervisor.
  • Adopting safe working practices and complying with all health and safety requirements.
  • Undertaking other duties appropriate to the role as required.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience dealing with customers, site users or members of the public.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of health and safety.
  • Knowledge of waste acceptance and control procedures would be beneficial.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work accurately.
  • Forklift Truck experience would be advantageous.
  • Full clean driving licence preferred.
  • Reliable, honest and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong customer service skills with a polite and helpful approach.
