Longcliffe Quarries Weighbridge Operatives
Longcliffe Quarries are looking for 2 x Weighbridge Operatives to join our team at Brassington Moor Quarry and our new Aldwark South Quarry. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong communication and administrative skills to play a central role in the daily operation of our quarry. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the weighbridge, supporting operational compliance, maintaining accurate records and providing excellent service to drivers, customers and colleagues.
This varied role is ideal for someone who is organised, proactive, and enjoys working in a busy operational environment.
Role Description
Support the efficient operation of the Brassington Moor Quarry and Aldwark South Quarry weighbridges, ensuring the accurate processing of vehicle movements, compliance with legal and company requirements, and effective coordination with quarry, sales and commercial teams. You will play a key role in maintaining operational records, supporting site safety, managing weighbridge administration and helping the site operate efficiently and safely:
- Managing daily weighbridge operations and vehicle transactions.
- Inducting drivers and ensuring compliance with site procedures.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and operational records.
- Supporting audits, inspections and compliance activities.
- Liaising with quarry operations, sales and commercial teams.
- Assisting with investigations, continuous improvement initiatives and site administration.
- Promoting a positive health and safety culture and contributing to site safety improvements.
- Supporting general site activities including housekeeping, equipment maintenance, cleaning and gritting when required.
- Support loading and unloading activities and supervise drivers on site where required.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment, addressing housekeeping issues promptly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, safety initiatives, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential
- Basic education including Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Commitment to improving health, safety and environmental standards.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across multiple departments
- Understanding of safe working practices or willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow procedures and work safely in an industrial environment.
Desirable
- IOSH Working Safely or similar health & safety qualification.
- Weighbridge Operations Level 2 NVQ desirable but not essential
- Experience of working in quarrying, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments would be advantageous
Skills & Competencies
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to monitor processes and respond to issues in a timely manner.
- Basic IT skills and ability to complete records and reports accurately.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to changing workloads.
- Commitment to learning and developing new skills through training.

Working Hours
Working as part of a shift pattern Monday – Saturday morning 52 hours per week covering the hours Monday – Friday between 5am and 6:30pm and 1 in 5 Saturday mornings 6am – noon.
Salary
£39,348 per annum.
