Welder (Piping)

About Us

Laker Vent Engineering is a leading mechanical contractor in the engineering construction industry. We specialise in the installation of highly regulated process piping systems, delivering high-quality solutions for blue-chip clients across the Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, and Petrochemical sectors.


Role

We are seeking Welders with proven experience in TIG welding of stainless steel and carbon steel piping systems. The ideal candidate will be capable of producing high-quality welds that meet rigorous visual inspection and NDT standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG welding on stainless steel and carbon steel piping systems in accordance with project specifications and industry standards
  • Work as part of a site-based installation team
  • Adhere to safety and quality procedures at all times
  • Complete tasks to a high standard within agreed timeframes
  • Assist in preparation, fitting, and fabrication of pipework as required

Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 in Welding or Pipefitting (or equivalent)
  • Valid CCNSG, CSCS, or recognised equivalent safety passport
  • Demonstrated experience with TIG welding in a site-based environment
  • Familiarity with welding procedures and acceptance criteria for NDT and visual inspection
  • Must have valid Right to Work in the UK

Special Requirements

  • Offer of employment is subject to passing a weld test to verify competence and quality standards.

Rates & Allowances

Contract Type: PA YE Only

  • NAECI categorised rates (2025):
    • Basic: £23.25
    • Rate A: £32.55
    • Rate B: £41.84
  • Weld proficiency bonus applicable
  • IBA Payment: £2.37/hour

Working Hours

  • 108+ hrs available over an 11-day period
  • Week 1: Mon-Thurs (10.5 hrs/day) | Fri-Sun (8 hrs/day)
  • Week 2: Mon-Thurs (10.5 hrs/day) | Fri-Sun OFF

Travel & Expenses

  • NAECI travel and accommodation allowances apply in line with current guidelines
