NEW PERMANENT VACANCY: WELDER FABRICATOR

Are you an experienced Welder Fabricator who can TIG weld on aluminium and stainless steel, and are you looking for a permanent job on day shifts?

We are looking for an experienced Welder Fabricator to join a sheet metal fabrication business in Stevenage. The role involves more TIG Welding than MIG welding, but the hiring manager would like someone who can MIG weld as or when required.

The working hours are 8am:4.30pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week) with overtime available and paid at T1/2. There is an option for an earlier finish on a Friday should you wish to work 43 hours basic in the week.

The basic salary will range between £37,500 - £45,000 per annum (DOE) (hourly rate of £18.00 - £21.50 per hour).

This is a permanent contract with the business from day 1, and the hiring manager is keen to interview and weld test ASAP.

What You Will Do

  • Perform TIG and MIG welding on a variety of components, predominantly stainless and aluminium.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and technical information to prepare products accurately.
  • Carry out dimensional inspection prior to welding to support right:first:time quality.
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures to required specifications.
  • Dress and fettl your own work to a consistently high standard finish.
  • Follow safety guidelines, maintain a clean working environment, and complete quality checks on finished products.

What You Will Bring

  • Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator within sheet metal fabrication, including TIG and MIG techniques.
  • Confidence reading and interpreting technical drawings and fabrication instructions.
  • Experience welding stainless and aluminium, including working with thinner materials up to 6mm.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly around inspection, finishing, and producing high:quality welds.
  • Practical capability with hand tools and power tools, supported by a safety:first mindset.
