Program Overview

  • Your journey begins at Glasgow Clyde College.
  • Includes a comprehensive program featuring a full-time placement at Malin.

What You’ll Learn

You will gain insights into:

  • Techniques for positioning, preparing, and checking welding equipment.
  • Procedures for managing and maintaining consumables.
  • Preparation of areas for welding and fabrication.
  • Factors tested and assessed in product quality within industry standards.

This hands-on, interactive program covers:

  • Conventional and mechanised welding skills.
  • Practical training towards an HNC qualification in Fabrication and Welding.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Apply knowledge in positioning, preparing, and verifying welding tools.
  • Manage consumables and preparation areas for welding tasks.
  • Deliver embrace rigorous quality testing and standards compliance.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 3 NAT 5s, with Maths and English essential.
  • Achieve grade C or higher in relevant qualifications.
  • Demonstrate exceptional hand-eye coordination.
  • Showcase attention to detail.
  • Exhibit compatibility with Malin’s values:

    • Motivation for development.
    • Commitment to overcoming obstacles and learning from experiences.

Timeframe and Progression

  • 4-year minimum duration.
  • Year 1:
    • NC Qualification in Fabrication and Welding through block release at college.
  • Years 2–4:
    • HNC Qualification in Fabrication and Welding.
