Wellbeing & Engagement Coordinator
Student Wellbeing and Engagement Programme Manager
Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term (1 year) Location: Kingston University International Study Centre, Kingston Upon Thames Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum
About the Role
To join the Student Experience Team and coordinate student wellbeing, enrichment, and engagement within the centre. The role reports to the Director of Campus Operations and ensures operational management of Student Wellbeing & Engagement Officers. The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) responsibilities include compliance with safeguarding regulations and the authority to escalate concerns appropriately.
Responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities
- Provision and oversight of student welfare, safeguarding, Prevent, and enrichment programmes
- Ensure case management of LDHD welfare concerns while maintaining fair workload distribution across officers
- Deliver safeguarding compliance in line with Study Group policy and SOPs
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead with escalation authority (including using the DSL Handbook)
- Monitor student whereabouts per agreed protocols
- Develop Agreed Support Plans (ASPs), Safety Plans, and Exit Plans with proper approvals
- Organise induction, wellbeing, and engagement activities—incl. materials for community-building and student development (collaborating with the Senior Coordinator Progression as needed)
- Collate and share data relating to student support, interventions, and performance
- Lead analytical improvements using end-of-year data to enhance welfare and learning support
- Escalate concerns to the Student Experience Leader and Central Student Wellbeing Team per policy
- Collaborate internally on welfare support (e.g., promoting inclusive practices and safeguarding awareness)
- Update the Wellbeing & Welfare section on the Virtual Reception
- Strengthen partnerships with the University Partner for aligned student engagement strategies
- Manage, train, and motivate the Welfare and Enrichment Officers for optimal student outcomes
- Provide performance management (seeing goal-setting, regular reviews, and formal assessments)
- Facilitate staff professional development and participate in recruitment roles
- Support the development and application of Study Group’s Student Experience & Wellbeing Strategy and associated policies (incl. Safeguarding Communities of Practice meetings)
- Support awareness-raising on safeguarding protocols (practices and escalations)
- Maintain quality documentation for policies and enhancement reporting
- Contribute to Quarterly and Annual Safeguarding Reviews and relevant Monitoring Reports
- Engage in governance committees and student welfare-centric planning sessions
- Oversee induction, transition, and enrichment activities
- Handle student queries via email, phone, or in-person
- Develop partnerships with internal/external stakeholders
- Any additional responsibilities as directed by the Student Experience Leader or Director of Campus Operations

About You
We are looking for candidates with:
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience demonstrating self-directed critical thinking)
- Experience in administration or management
- Higher-level safeguarding training
- Proven experience in line management
- Relevant background in student support within an educational setting
- Ability to shape and enhance student experience and engagement
- Familiarity with regulated environments
