Wellbeing Practitioner

Salary: £26,006.84 per annum, pro rata Location: Wirral, Merseyside Contract/Hours: Permanent – Part-Time 30 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday

About the Role

We are recruiting a Wellbeing Practitioner to deliver meaningful mental health and wellbeing support to children and young people across Wirral.

We’re seeking a candidate who brings:

  • Energy, warmth, and passion for the work
  • Comfort leading group-based programmes
  • Ability to connect compassionately with children, young people, and adults

In this part-time role, you’ll:

  • Deliver early-intervention, evidence-based programmes
  • Tailor communication to meet each young person’s needs
  • Work with children and young people (aged 5–18)
  • Play a pivotal role in nurturing emotional health, building resilience, and making a lasting, positive difference in their lives.

About the Service: Branch

Delivered by Action for Children, Open Door Charity, Hatch Merseyside, Kooth, Koala North West, and other local providers, the Branch service offers early emotional health and wellbeing support to young people across Wirral. It is a community-based, partnership-driven approach aimed at improving emotional outcomes.

What You’ll Do

The Wellbeing Practitioner will:

  • Work as part of a practitioner team – Collaborate closely with colleagues to deliver emotional health and wellbeing interventions.
  • Lead group and individual support – Facilitate sessions and provide one-to-one support in a safe, positive environment for children/young people to explore their feelings.
  • Equip young people with wellbeing skills – Help service users develop practical strategies to manage their emotional wellbeing and strengthen resilience.
  • Work in partnership across Wirral – Engage with schools, voluntary organisations, and local health services to ensure joined-up, holistic support.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Social Care qualification or equivalent to support children/young people.
  • Experience delivering proven interventions that improve emotional wellbeing.
  • Confidence facilitating group programmes in engaging, safe spaces.
  • Experience supporting children, young people, and families, understanding their needs and building trusting relationships.
  • Passion for promoting emotional wellbeing, acting as a positive mental health advocate.
  • Driving licence and access to a car – Travel is required as per job demands (reasonable adjustments made per Equality Act).
