About the Role
In the Justice department, we work with young people and adults in custody and the community to provide services including offender management, mentoring, victim support, gangs interventions, and youth justice.
This role focuses on supporting adult male ex-offenders in rebonding with society. As a Wellbeing Practitioner – Prison Lead, you will play a pivotal role within the Personal Wellbeing Service, addressing four key pathways:
- Family and Significant Others
- Lifestyle and Associates
- Emotional Wellbeing
- Social Inclusion
You will manage a caseload—supporting individuals both in custody and the community—delivering tailored interventions across multiple pathways to promote positive change.
Your work will include:
- Building coping skills and resilience
- Managing emotions and promoting pro-social behaviour
- Ensuring holistic support through collaborative partnerships

Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and group interventions
- Assess and develop rehabilitation strategies for service users
- Manage caseloads effectively
- Collaborate with stakeholders to link individuals with additional support where needed
- Adapt interventions to challenging environments
- Contribute to wider organisational goals of systemic change in criminal justice
Qualifications
- GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths
- Evidence of professional development in your field
- Desirable qualifications in criminology, social care, mental health, or related areas
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working with offenders or disadvantaged individuals
- Solid understanding of safeguarding, risk management and rehabilitation strategies
- Strong communication and motivational skills
- Ability to deliver impactful 1:1 and group interventions
- Capacity to manage caseloads efficiently across complex settings
- Experience working effectively in challenging environments
Other Requirements
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly across multiple sites
- Commitment to equality, diversity and personal development
- Full UK driving licence and access to private transportation is mandatory due to varied site locations
- Enhanced DBS check, HMPPS clearance, and successful Right to Work in the UK verification required for all applicants

Additional Information
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours: 38 hours per week (Full time)
- Salary: £27,183 per annum
- Location: Predominantly covering HMP Bullingdon, Milton Keynes and Aylesbury, with travel across the Thames Valley region
