Welsh-Speaking KS2 Teaching Assistant – Caerphilly

We’re recruiting an enthusiastic, experienced, and committed Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to join a warm, inclusive school in Caerphilly from September 2026. The right candidate will thrive in teaching and pastoral support, ensuring pupils’ learning and wellbeing are prioritised throughout Key Stage 2 (KS2).
Roles in this position may include:
- Delivering all tasks through the medium of Welsh and English, including support for small groups and one-to-one interventions.
- Fostering independence, confidence, and achievement via tailored assistance both academically and emotionally. -** Key Responsibilities *-
- Supporting teaching and learning across KS2 classes, ensuring pupils progress through engaging activities and differentiated challenges.
- Assisting in mainstream and specialist classrooms, applying professional judgement to deliver the curriculum effectively through Welsh and English.
- Small-group instruction and one-to-one interventions, adapting resources and strategies for individual needs, including additional learning needs.
- Maintaining a positive behaviour model, applying fair and creative behaviour strategies while liaising with class teachers.
- Ensuring Inclusive Education provision is accessible to all pupils, particularly those with listed special educational needs.
- Supporting opportunities for Welsh medium learning outdoors, including trips and practical projects.
- Collaborating with parents, teachers, and support staff to use available resources and maximise learning in Welsh and English.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential: ✔ A passion for working with KS2 pupils and a willingness to use Welsh as the first language of instruction and interaction. ✔ Confident communication in Welsh and English (oral and written). ✔ TA guardianship experience or a recognised Level 3 equivalent, e.g., CPD courses or Enhanced Certificate in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion. ✔ Fluent Welsh-speaking ability at a standard that allows full participation in Welsh-medium teaching environments.
