The role of a Firefighter isn’t just about fighting fires—it spans from educating the public on safety measures, responding to road traffic collisions, and handling medical emergencies.
Key Details
- Location: Hertfordshire
- Salary Range: £30,384 (Development) – £38,881 (Competent) per annum
- Hours: 37 per week
- Contract: Permanent
Job Requirements
All applicants must:
- Reside in Hertfordshire or in an adjoining postcode area (refer to the [Postcode Eligibility Page](href link))
- Be 18 years or older
- Hold a full, valid manual driving licence for unsupervised UK driving
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Have no unspent convictions (as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974)
- Hold GCSE Grade A–C / Level 9–4 (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Mathematics* (e.g., Functional Skills Level 2)

Training & Development
On successful appointment, you’ll complete either:
- Level 3 Operational Firefighter Apprenticeship
- Level 3 Diploma in Emergency Fire & Rescue Service Operations in the Community (SFJ Awards)
