Role Overview

You will play a key role in delivering inclusive, community-focused learning experiences as part of Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Widening Access programme. Working within Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment, you’ll support the delivery of outreach activity that widens participation and supports learners from diverse backgrounds to access higher education. This is an opportunity to make a visible difference, connecting communities with the University and contributing to meaningful social impact aligned to the University’s 2030 strategy.

You’ll work closely with internal teams, academic staff, tutors, and community partners to co-ordinate courses, events and learner journeys. From managing enrolments and analysing feedback to supporting marketing activity and maintaining systems, your work will help ensure programmes run smoothly and continue to evolve. This role offers variety, responsibility and the chance to bring ideas to life in a supportive, collaborative environment.

You Will Contribute By

  • Assisting the Community Engagement Manager, to ensure the effective day-to-day management and delivery of Widening Access courses, including: ensuring courses are delivered in accordance with University policies; monitoring budget; ordering goods and services; collation and analysis of learner and Tutor assessment feedback; overseeing and co-ordinating the start and end of courses; updating and editing the Widening Access website and newsletter with news, events and activities.
  • Creating and managing new and existing relationships with community partner organisations, academic staff and tutors at Cardiff Met and community learners to co-ordinate and provide a high level of professional support for the delivery of the community outreach programme.
  • Identifying and generating ideas for future course development, assisting the Community Engagement Manager with further development and implementation.
  • Leading and managing the processing of online enrolments for all Widening Access outreach courses including accredited and non-accredited modules, Summer School and IELTS classes.
  • Liaising with stakeholders, to advise on learner bookings and implement creative marketing and email campaigns promoting Widening Access courses including creation of promotional support for partner organisations such as bilingual posters and social network posts.
  • Co-ordinating Widening Access activity at key Adult Learner events, arranging appropriate promotional material and representing the University at the events to deliver key information and provide advice on the Widening Access activities.

What You Will Bring

You will bring a strong foundation in organising and delivering events or programmes, with the confidence to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Your ability to communicate clearly and build effective relationships will help you work across teams and with external partners to deliver high-quality outreach activity.

You’ll be comfortable using systems and data to monitor performance, improve delivery and support decision-making. With a proactive and adaptable approach, you will enjoy solving problems, maintaining high standards and contributing ideas that enhance the learner experience. You will also be motivated to support inclusive access to education and play a meaningful role in helping individuals progress into higher education.

Additionally You’ll Have

  • Relevant experience and knowledge of events management
  • Proven track record of delivering large scale multiple events to budget within agreed timescales.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), problem solving, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines with a minimum of supervision.
