Role
Hands-on Team Lead – Windows Engineering – take ownership of a global Microsoft infrastructure estate (EMEA + APAC)
About the Role
A player-coach position for an engineer who thrives in government of a distributed team while maintaining technical depth and expert technical ownership over Microsoft stack strategy, automation, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a global Windows Engineering function (London + APAC)
- Define and implement the technical strategy, standards, and roadmap for Microsoft infrastructure
- Act as hands-on subject matter expert (SME) in BAU engineering and critical projects
- Manage and optimise complex environments including:
- Active Directory
- Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Exchange & Group Policy
- PKI (Public Key Infrastructure)
- DNS & DHCP configurations
- Drive automation initiatives via PowerShell & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Oversee desktop infrastructure for high-performance trading teams
- Collaborate with cross-team disciplines:
- Linux Engineering
- Network teams
- Security ops
- Application development
- Lead patch coordination, hardening, vulnerability remediation, and disaster recovery
- Mentor engineers and cultivate a high-performing global engineering team

Core Qualifications
- Proven Windows Infrastructure leadership with track record scaling/optimising Microsoft platforms
- Deep expertise in:
- Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Exchange Server, group policy, PKI
- PowerShell scripting & automation mastery with IaC experience (focus on modules, code modularity)
- Hands-on background with:
- VMware/Hyper-V/Nutanix/HCI deployments
- Experience with automation/toolchain integration (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Desired State Configuration)
- Industry exposure within:
- Financial services, trading firms, hedge funds, investment banking
- Profound knowledge of enterprise security, operational practices, and cost efficiencies
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills + proven team leadership under ambiguity
