Windows Infrastructure Engineer – SC Cleared

Permanent or Contract | Hybrid (40% onsite) | Infrastructure & Cloud | SC Cleared

At Peregrine, we're always seeking Specialist Talent that have the ideal mix of skills, experience, and attitude to place with our diverse portfolio of clients across the public and private sectors. We are currently looking for an experienced Windows Infrastructure Engineer to join a high-performing enterprise technology team supporting critical infrastructure services.

The role

You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and maintaining enterprise Microsoft Windows infrastructure. Working within a collaborative infrastructure team, you'll help deliver modern, secure and highly available Windows environments whilst contributing to infrastructure projects, automation initiatives and ongoing service improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support enterprise Windows Server environments (2016, 2019 and 2022).
  • Build, configure, maintain and decommission physical and virtual servers.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP services.
  • Perform Windows patching, upgrades, security hardening and vulnerability remediation.
  • Support VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell automation scripts.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with networking, security, cloud and storage teams to deliver infrastructure solutions.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects, migrations and technology refresh programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with ITIL processes including Incident, Change, Problem and Release Management.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and planned out-of-hours maintenance where required.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
  • Commercial experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Experience supporting VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Windows patch management and operating system lifecycle management.
  • Server build, deployment and operational acceptance experience.
  • Enterprise monitoring, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
  • Experience with security hardening and vulnerability remediation.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within ITIL service management environments.
  • Ability to work independently and within Agile delivery teams.

Desirable skills

  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM).
  • Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Ansible).
  • Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
  • Microsoft Intune.
  • Linux administration experience.
  • Enterprise security tooling and compliance frameworks.
  • Microsoft, VMware or ITIL certifications.
