The Opportunity
Sunderland AFC Women are looking to appoint a Goalkeeper Coach & Set-Piece Specialist to join the Women’s First Team technical staff. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and forward-thinking coach to lead goalkeeper development and performance, while also taking ownership of the team’s attacking and defensive set-piece strategy.

Working within an integrated technical, performance, medical and analysis environment, the successful candidate will design and deliver goalkeeper-specific training aligned to the club’s game model, team principles and individual player development plans. The role will also lead the planning, delivery and review of first-team set-piece strategy, ensuring clear frameworks, roles and execution across training and matchday.
What We Ask For
We are seeking an excellent communicator and educator with strong technical and tactical knowledge of goalkeeper development and set-piece execution in an elite football environment. You will hold an FA or UEFA Goalkeeping Coach B Licence as a minimum, with an A Licence desirable, alongside an FA Safeguarding qualification. You will bring at least three seasons’ experience within elite football and a proven track record of supporting the development of goalkeepers from youth to senior level.

You will have experience designing and delivering set-piece strategies at professional or elite level, combined with a strong understanding of goalkeeper involvement in build-up play, defensive structures and transition moments. Experience within women’s football would be desirable, as would confidence using data and video analysis platforms such as StatsBomb, Hudl Sportscode, Wyscout or XPS to inform coaching practice and player development.
You will be comfortable working collaboratively across departments and using video, data and performance insight to support player and team development. The successful candidate will also be able to travel and work non-traditional hours in line with the team schedule.
You will be required to obtain an Enhanced DBS through SAFCW.
