Job Description – Site Manager

You will be directly responsible to: Business Manager and the Company Directors

Site Manager (up to 4 sites in your Region)

Woodland Burial Group prides itself on the unique and sustainable way it manages burial grounds. We are seeking a Site Manager to support the current team with a focus on land management and practical application of our values.

The day to day role will be on sites in our East Midlands Region, initially training at Swartling Wood in South Derbyshire. There will be additional sites (up to four) added during 2026/7 and travel to each will be required. Sites will be created and maintained to an agreed structure and style, with additional staff available as required during busy periods and for seasonal demands.

Some manual labour and use of chainsaw, training given. Willingness and ability to work occasional weekends/evenings is essential. Own car & driving license also required with insurance appropriate for work use.

Main Responsibilities

  • Managing burial ground and surrounding land to agreed standards.
  • Maintaining site to meet seasonal, event and funeral demands.
  • Working closely in a team to ensure the smooth running of operations on site.
  • Implementing and updating Wildlife Management Plan.
  • Directing and supporting site workers and casual labour.
  • Completing off site tasks as required, e.g. collection of trees from nursery, storage and maintenance of equipment.
  • Completing administrative tasks in a timely fashion, including risk assessments and database input.
  • Liaising with families on site as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities

  • To take a proactive approach and active interest in industry trends.
  • To thoroughly check work for quality and consistency.
  • To manage time effectively and log the time taken (where required) to complete tasks.
  • To maintain your personal working environment. A laptop and mobile phone for work use will be provided.
  • To undertake any reasonable activity requested by the management in order to ensure the effective running of the Company.
