Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SME Principal Engineer WordPress to lead the architecture design and development of enterprise-grade digital platforms built on WordPress.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in WordPress Gutenberg development, React, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, and modern frontend technologies with proven experience building scalable, secure, and high-performance websites for global organizations. This role requires hands-on technical leadership, architecture ownership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to drive modernization initiatives across content management ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture Technical Leadership
- Define and drive enterprise WordPress architecture and development standards
- Lead design and implementation of scalable, secure, and maintainable CMS solutions
- Establish best practices for WordPress development, code quality, performance, and security
- Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical governance sessions
- Create high-level and low-level solution designs

- Design and develop complex WordPress solutions using Gutenberg and Block Editor architecture
- Build custom Gutenberg blocks using React.js and JavaScript
- Develop reusable block libraries and component frameworks
- Extend WordPress core functionality through custom themes, plugins, and integrations
- Implement advanced content authoring experiences for business users
Gutenberg Block Editor Expertise Mandatory
- Develop custom Gutenberg blocks using React
- Customize block editor experiences and editorial workflows
- Implement dynamic and reusable content components
- Create custom block templates and block patterns
- Build scalable content management solutions leveraging modern WordPress architecture
FrontEnd Engineering
- Develop highly responsive and accessible user interfaces using:
- HTML5

- Ensure WCAG accessibility compliance
- Optimize user experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms
- Implement modern design systems and component-driven development approaches
Backend Development
- Develop robust backend functionality using PHP

- Develop REST APIs and headless CMS capabilities
- Implement authentication, authorization, and security controls
- Ensure maintainability and scalability of backend systems
