Location: BHP Sheffield office - 71 Sidney Street, Sheffield, S1 4RG Dates: From Monday 6th July to Friday 10th July 2026 Hours: 9am to 3.30pm each day
Can you imagine a future career in accountancy? Well, now you can find out what it’s really like - and it’s much more interesting than people might think it is! This July, BHP is running our popular Work Experience Academy in Sheffield. Giving you the chance to get insight into the broad range of work that accountants get involved with and find out if it could be the right career path for you.
What will I do?
You'll get an in-depth look into the world of accountancy. Throughout the week, you’ll follow the journey of a case study family business, exploring how it grows, makes decisions, and navigates key financial challenges with our help. From understanding the fundamentals of accountancy to advising on tax, audit, and investment choices, you’ll gain a hands-on insight into how we support real businesses at every stage of their journey. Bringing the world of accountancy to life in a practical and interesting way.

Answers to FAQ's: Lunch will be provided and there will be regular breaks throughout the day. Attendees will receive an allowance to cover daily travel costs if needed. The dress code is relaxed - no business wear needed! Our Sheffield office has great public transport links, we're close to the train and bus stations in the city centre.

Who is the Work Experience Academy for?
This programme is designed for students who are either nearing the end of their secondary education or currently studying towards A-Levels or equivalent qualifications, and who are interested in exploring the world of accountancy and finance.
