We are seeking a Work Winning Lead to shape and drive all work-winning initiatives within our Water business. Reporting to the Strategy & Growth Director for Water, this high-visibility role involves leading a cross-functional, high-performing team to develop a robust, business-critical pipeline of major pursuits—ranging from $5M to $35M+ in contract value.

As the strategic leader, you will:

  • Partner with senior leaders, Client Account Managers, Capture Managers, Marketing, and Delivery Teams
  • Foster challenge, innovation, and data-driven insights to influence business decisions
  • Champion best practices and elevate standards across AECOM Water

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and manage a high-performing team of six professionals (Bid Coordinators to Associate Bid Directors)
  • Ensure accountability for team projects and outcomes
  • Attract, retain, and nurture top talent via recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning
  • Inspire and motivate for innovation, inclusion, and excellence

2. Strategic Bid Pipeline

  • Own and shape a multi-year pipeline of key opportunities
  • Monitor budgets, ROI, capture rates and performance metrics
  • Prioritise Enterprise Critical Pursuits, Tier 2, and Tier 3 bids
  • Manage work-winning resources and proactively resolve risks
  • Drive CRM (Salesforce) discipline for executive decision-making

3. Quality & Governance

  • Lead bid reviews and workshops, challenge client value propositions
  • Provide data-driven insights to inform major bid/no-bid decisions
  • Safeguard optimal win rates and ROI
  • Oversee quality processes, embedding best practices in bid delivery

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

  • Build trusted relationships with senior business leaders
  • Influence and challenge strategies to align with business priorities
  • Deliver compelling reports and actionable insights for business planning

5. Bidding Best Practices & Continuous Improvement

  • Embed methodologies, tools, and training for capture and bid delivery
  • Standardise proposition-led, client-outcome focus in bids
  • Drive innovation and improvement via win/loss lessons learned

We’re looking for a candidate with:

  • Proven track record leading bid/work-winning teams in infrastructure, engineering, or built environment with clear outcomes accountability

  • Experience inspiring, developing, and line-managing high performers

  • Ability to translate high-level business goals into effective, actionable work-winning plans

Preferred/Desirable:

  • Degree-level qualification
  • APMP Professional certification
  • Water sector experience
