Interim Workday HRIS Manager
6 Month Initial Contract | Inside IR35 | Central London | 4 Days Per Week Onsite
Overview
We are supporting a leading global investment organisation in the appointment of an experienced Interim Workday HRIS Manager to provide leadership and stability whilst the business recruits a permanent hire.
This is a hands-on leadership position combining people management, Workday configuration and strategic stakeholder engagement. The successful contractor will lead the HRIS function, manage and develop a small team, whilst remaining actively involved in the configuration, optimisation and ongoing development of the Workday platform.
Operating within a highly international environment, you will work closely with HR, Technology and business leaders across multiple global regions to ensure the continued delivery of a robust, scalable HR systems landscape. You will have previous experience supporting global Workday environments, understanding the complexities of delivering consistent HR technology solutions across multiple countries, time zones and legislative requirements.
This role requires someone who is equally comfortable leading people, influencing senior stakeholders and remaining hands-on with Workday configuration.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor and develop the HRIS team, providing day-to-day management, coaching and technical leadership.
- Prioritise workload and ensure the successful delivery of HR systems support, enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster strong relationships across HR, Technology and the wider business.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex HR systems and Workday issues.
- Support the transition to a permanent HRIS Manager through effective documentation and knowledge transfer.

Global Business Partnership
- Partner with HR and business leaders across multiple international regions to understand business priorities and operational challenges.
- Translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions that support both global consistency and regional requirements.
- Provide trusted advice on Workday best practice, HR processes and future platform capability.
- Influence senior stakeholders across a complex international organisation.
- Support the continued evolution of the global HR technology roadmap.
Workday Configuration & Optimisation
- Remain hands-on with the configuration and optimisation of Workday HCM and associated functional modules, including:
- Core HCM
- Compensation
- Benefits
- Absence
- Talent
- Onboarding
- Security
- Configure and maintain Business Processes, Calculated Fields, Condition Rules, Security Frameworks and Tenant Configuration.
- Drive continuous improvement across system functionality, automation and user experience.
- Troubleshoot complex functional issues and coordinate with internal technology teams and third-party vendors where required.
HR Systems Management
- Lead Workday release planning, impact assessments, testing and deployment activities.
- Manage system enhancements, incidents and change requests.
- Ensure high levels of system performance, availability and data integrity.
- Support integrations across the wider HR technology landscape.
- Ensure robust governance, compliance and documentation across the Workday platform.
Reporting & Data
- Develop and enhance Workday reports and dashboards.
- Support HR reporting and People Analytics requirements.
- Maintain data quality, governance and audit compliance across HR systems.

Essential Experience
We are looking for an experienced Workday professional who can demonstrate:
- Significant hands-on experience configuring and supporting Workday HCM.
- Previous experience managing or leading HRIS or Workday teams.
- Proven experience operating within a global organisation, supporting Workday across multiple countries and international business functions.
- Experience partnering with senior HR, Technology and business stakeholders within complex multinational environments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Workday Business Processes
- Calculated Fields
- Security Configuration
- Tenant Management
- Reporting & Dashboards
- Experience leading Workday releases, testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of HR systems, HR processes and data governance.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical delivery.
Desirable Experience
- Workday Certification.
- Experience with Workday integrations and API-based solutions.
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar IT Service Management platforms.
- Knowledge of HR technology transformation programmes.
- Previous experience within Financial Services, Private Equity or other global enterprise organisations.
