Contract Workday Finance Project Manager - £1150 - £1300 (inside IR35) - 18 months contract
Role Summary
We are supporting a confidential global organisation with a major finance transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Contract Workday Finance Project Manager to take ownership of delivery from the client side.
This is a senior, hands-on delivery role, working opposite a Tier 1 systems integrator. You will be responsible for driving governance, managing programme controls, challenging delivery assumptions, protecting timelines and ensuring the programme lands successfully in a complex, regulated environment.
This role will suit a seasoned contract Project Manager who has delivered finance transformation programmes before and is comfortable operating with senior stakeholders, executive sponsors, consulting partners and delivery teams.
The Opportunity
You will act as the client-side delivery lead across a high-profile finance transformation programme. The organisation is investing significantly in modernising its finance systems, controls, reporting and operating model.
Your role will be to make sure the programme is properly governed, commercially controlled and delivered against agreed outcomes.
This is not a passive coordination role. The client needs someone who can take control, hold vendors to account, manage senior stakeholders and keep delivery moving under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the client-side delivery of a major finance transformation programme.
- Manage day-to-day programme governance, reporting, milestones, RAID, dependencies and critical path.
- Act as the senior delivery counterpart to a Tier 1 systems integrator.
- Challenge assumptions, plans, timelines and delivery risks where required.
- Ensure programme activity aligns to business outcomes, controls, finance processes and reporting requirements.
- Engage confidently with senior stakeholders, including executive sponsors, finance leadership, consulting partners and programme teams.
- Track progress against scope, milestones, budget, dependencies and agreed deliverables.
- Identify risks early and drive clear mitigation plans.
- Maintain control across multiple workstreams in a complex, regulated environment.
- Ensure the programme maintains pace without compromising quality, control or governance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
