About the Role
Based in our Manchester Reporting Hub, the Workday Reporting Specialist will report directly to the Head of Finance, with a dotted line into the Workday team. This dedicated 6-month role aimsto accelerate our self-service reporting transformation. The successful candidate will own and support the design, build, and rollout of Workday dashboards across Finance and the wider business, working alongside Commercial Finance and other functions to convert recurring and ad-hoc reporting needs into live, drill-down, in-house solutions.
The role ensures sustainable reporting ways of working across regions and leaves the Hub with a scalable dashboard estate that protects the operating model.
Key Responsibilities
- Dashboard Development: Design, build, and rollout Workday dashboards that replace recurring manual finance reports, while reducing the ad-hoc reporting queue.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Commercial Finance and other business functions to:
- Scope dashboard requirements.
- Prioritise the report retirement backlog.
- Confirm and finalise pilot dashboard scope.
- Technical Configuration: Configure Workday data sources, calculated fields, and security to ensure:
- Data accuracy.
- Performance optimisation.
- Broad user accessibility across regions.
- Pilot Programme Execution: Lead and run the pilot programme with one business function, including:
- Capturing feedback from stakeholders.
- Iterating dashboard design for wider rollout.
- Access & Adoption Coordination: Organise and facilitate cross-functional Workday access for super users.
- Workday Partnership: Collaborate with the Workday team to:
- Ensure transparency around platform constraints.
- Route technical fixes to the appropriate channel.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive details for each dashboard, including:
- Clear data lineage.
- Refresh cadence.
- Defined owners to ensure a sustainable estate post-role.
- Training & Capability Transfer:
- Train Hub team members and end users on:
- Dashboard navigation.
- Technical filters.
- Self-service best practices.
- Ensure services are fully transferred in-house by the project’s end.
- Train Hub team members and end users on:
- KPI Tracking: Track and report progress against published benchmark metrics.
- Process Improvement: Identify reporting-adjacent optimisations via dashboards and feed them into the Hub’s continuous optimisation pipeline.

What Success Looks Like
Your first three months would include achieving:
- Strong working relationships with the Hub, Commercial Finance team, and Workday partners.
- A detailed understanding of reporting needs, including:
- Recurring report types.
- Ad-hoc request trends.
- A prioritised retirement backlog aligned with stakeholder expectations.
- A pilot dashboard live and well-adopted, with user satisfaction surveyed.
- Embedded understanding of Global’s brands, values, and behaviours, with a self-service/AI-first mindset.
By the end of the 6-month programme, you will have:
- Launched a scalable dashboard estate, transforming:
- Manual recurring reports on schedule.
- Noticeably reducing the ad-hoc reporting workload.
- Ensured a fully self-sufficient estate through:
- Comprehensive documentation and data lineage.
- In-house training and ownership transfer.
What You’ll Need
The ideal candidate combines proactive execution with innovative problem-solving. You must:
- Workday Certification: An active Workday certification is mandatory.
- Financial Reporting Experience: A Workday Financial Reporting certification is highly preferred.
- Reporting Expertise:
- Proven expertise designing and delivering complex financial reports within Workday.
- Deep knowledge of financial data constructs, including:
- General ledger reporting.
- P&L presentation.
- Balance sheet evaluation.
- Reporting Modernisation:
- A track record of transforming manual ad-hoc reports into user-adopted self-service dashboards.
- Technical Fluency:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate ambiguous requests into structured data models and intuitive visualisations.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Sharply honed communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Confidence leading discovery sessions with:
- Commercial Finance.
- Operations.
- FP&A teams.
- Delivery Mindset:
- Ownership of a 6-month roadmap with clear KPI targets.
- Comfort operating in fast-paced environments with evolving expectations.
- AI & Collaboration:
- Exposure to AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude) is a strong advantage.
- Likelihood of being forward-thinking, embracing self-service principles.
