Working Depot Lead - Nights

The Working Depot Lead is responsible for the efficient management of depot operations, ensuring the proper handling, storage, and distribution of materials and stock. This role includes overseeing the depot's standards, ensuring it remains tidy, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations. The Working Depot Lead will manage stock levels, order PPE, and ensure the smooth movement of materials. Additionally, the role involves conducting regular audits, ensuring compliance with internal policies, and preparing for external audits. Proactivity and escalation of any issues when needed will be a key part of this role.
Position: Working Depot Lead - Nights
Location: Crawley Depot (West Sussex)
Job Type: permanent, full-time
Hours: 4 nights on 4 nights off (6pm - 6am)
Salary: £20.40 per hour
Benefits: 21 days holiday (including bank holidays); health cash plan; onsite parking; auto enrolment pension scheme.

About The Role
Key & Asset Management
Maintain accurate logs for all keys, site access keys, and fuel cards. Issue and retrieve keys and fuel cards, ensuring full accountability and traceability. Store all assets securely and escalate any missing, damaged, or unaccounted‑for items.
Site Housekeeping
Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised depot environment at all times. Monitor and ensure correct parking and vehicle positioning across the site. Support general site presentation, including tidiness of stores, yard areas, and communal spaces.
Audits & Compliance
Conduct regular audits of keys, stock, site keys, and fuel cards in line with internal procedures. Identify discrepancies and assist in implementing corrective actions. Support wider depot compliance checks and inspections as required.

Professional Attitude Reliable, proactive, and committed to maintaining high standards. Demonstrates ownership of responsibilities and contributes positively to the depot environment.
Organisation & Attention to Detail
Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain clear, accurate records. Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively. Cleanliness & Site Presentation Consistently maintains high standards of cleanliness across the site. Understands the importance of a professional, safe, and operationally efficient depot environment.

Qualifications & Requirements
Industry accreditations are required Health and Safety certifications (e.g. IOSH or First Aid) are an advantage Experience in the drainage, utilities or retail industry will be beneficial A full UK drivers licence Class 2 HGV licence is desirable Experience in a depot, stores, or facilities role. Experience with asset/stock control or auditing processes. Basic IT literacy for logging, tracking, and recording information.
Additional Information
Training will be provided where required. The role may involve working outdoors and occasional manual handling.
