Job Summary
Working Site Manager
Location: Gravesend (Kent) with travel to sites across London and the South East
Salary: £180–£220 per day or £47,000–£57,000 per annum (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
JV Builders Ltd is looking for an experienced Working Site Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of our construction sites while remaining actively involved in site operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced construction professional with broad knowledge across groundworks, structural works, carpentry, refurbishment, and residential construction. You will lead by example, supervise trades and subcontractors, coordinate materials and deliveries, maintain quality and safety standards, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently.
You will be the principal operational lead on site, working closely with the Project Manager and office team to ensure programmes, procurement, reporting, and daily site activities remain aligned.
Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership
- Take ownership of daily site operations from start to completion.
- Lead by example, remaining hands-on where required.
- Supervise operatives, subcontractors, apprentices, and specialist contractors.
- Allocate work and maintain productivity across the site.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to programme.

Technical Construction
- Oversee and understand all phases of construction, including groundworks, drainage, soakaways, concrete, DPC installation, structural carpentry, timber framing, roofing, insulation, brickwork, first and second fix, and finishing works.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction details.
- Identify technical issues early and implement practical solutions.
Quality Control
- Inspect workmanship throughout each stage of the project.
- Ensure installations comply with drawings, specifications, and Building Regulations where applicable.
- Manage snagging and ensure defects are rectified promptly.
- Maintain JV Builders' standards of quality across all projects.
Site Logistics & Procurement
- Coordinate material deliveries, plant, skips, and equipment.
- Monitor stock levels and advise on procurement requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure materials arrive on time and meet project requirements.
- Minimise waste and ensure efficient use of resources.
Reporting & Communication
- Complete daily site reports, including progress updates, photographs, labour records, and material requirements.
- Report progress, issues, and risks to the Project Manager and office team.
- Work closely with the office to support programme tracking and procurement planning.

Health & Safety
- Maintain a safe and organised site at all times.
- Enforce company health and safety procedures.
- Ensure all operatives wear appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices.
- Coordinate safely with external contractors, delivery drivers, crane operators, and concrete suppliers.
Essential Experience
- Significant practical experience in residential construction and refurbishment.
- Experience leading site teams and coordinating subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of multiple construction trades and sequencing.
- Ability to read technical drawings and communicate construction requirements clearly.
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- SMSTS or SSSTS.
- CSCS Card.
- First Aid at Work.
- Telehandler, plant, or lifting operation awareness.
- Experience working on private residential developments.
