About the Role
Are you a law student with an interest in law and the reinsurance industry? Would you like to use and broaden your knowledge in one of the best reinsurance companies in the world? Does the interaction with clients and stakeholders excite you? If the answer is yes, then please join Swiss Re as a Working Student and gain hands-on experience at the intersection of law and business.
You will gain insight into how legal expertise enables commercial decision-making in a global reinsurance business. We are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious Intern who will assist the Contracts P&C Team in London covering all markets in EMEA. This is a great opportunity to learn more about all lines of business and the variety of contracts in the reinsurance business in general and more specifically about Property and Casualty.
We are a diverse and international team of lawyers in four locations with a very high level of entrepreneurial spirit, energy, and expertise, that we seek to complement and strengthen together with your support. At the same time, we gather more experiences, develop ourselves, and have fun.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply your legal skills to the development of our reinsurance contracts
- Align Swiss Re's reinsurance contracts with applicable law, regulations, and internal requirements
- Contribute to our technology transformation journey by supporting the enhancement of our contract management IT infrastructure
- Develop and maintain training material
- Conduct legal and business research to support ongoing projects and strategic initiatives
- Engage with and support initiatives involving young talent in the insurance industry, including networking and outreach activities
About You
- Currently in your penultimate or ultimate year of your LLB or enrolled in an LLM (or equivalent law degree)
- Based in London and able to work from the Swiss Re London office
- Strong interest in law, contracts, and the reinsurance industry
- Curiosity about how legal advice supports business decisions and underwriting
- Ambitious, hands-on teammate, who is curious and learns quickly
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. An additional European language is a plus
- Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Time Commitment
- Duration: 6-12 months with possible extension
- Working time: 15-20 hours / week
- Preferred start date: asap
This is a long-term Working Student position. While there is flexibility to accommodate university commitments, such as examination periods, the expectation is a consistent average commitment of approximately 15-20 hours per week on average throughout the year.
